25、The olinguito(小尖吻浣熊) is new to science. Although it has been living in the cloud forests of South America for some time.
Scientists say the olinguito is the first new carnivore(食肉动物) discovered in the Americas in more than 30 years. It is a hairy orange-brown creature with a sweet face and big eyes. The animal has small rounded ears and lives in the trees. An adult weighs one kilogram and measures about 75 centimeters with half of those centimeters taken up by its ringed tail Most of the time. It likes to eat fruit, although it also eats meat. Active at night, the animal has lived in Colombia and Ecuador for a long time. But the olinguito did not exist in science books before now.
Kristofer Helgen, director at the National Museum in Washington, led the research team that confirmed the existence of the olinguito. It had been mistaken more than a century ago for a look-alike animal -- a similar but larger olingo(尖吻浣熊). Mr. Helgen had been studying olingos in a museum for ten years. At that time, he observed a difference in the size and shape of the heads and teeth. That led him on an effort to prove he was looking at an animal never before described by science. He got lucky when he communicated with a zoologist in Ecuador. The animal expert there made a short video that shows an olinguito in the trees. The video confirms that the oiinguito is different from the olingo.
Mr. Helgen says tens of thousands of olinguitos live in the wild and are not in danger of disappearing forever. Human beings, however, are moving closer to the olinguito habitat in the Andean cloud forests. The research team estimates that 42 percent of historic olinguiio habitat has been removed.

26、 You are walking down the street. Suddenly it starts to rain and you don’t have an umbrella. What do you do? Run or walk?
Most people would choose to run because it will get you out of the rain faster. But if you run, you also run into more raindrops. So what should you do?
Franco Bocci, a teacher at the University of Brescia in Italy, found that you should consider the wind direction and your body shape when you try to decide to move slowly or quickly in rain, according to the BBC.
When there is no wind and the rain is landing directly on you, Bocci suggests that you should run as fast as possible.
But if the wind comes from behind and blows the rain onto your back, the best thing to do is walking at the same speed as the wind. This way, both your front and back will stay mostly dry.
When the wind blows from the side, you'll have to think about one more thing—your body shape. Thinner people are hit by fewer raindrops. So a fatter person should run, while a thinner person should still try to match their speed to the wind.
“In general (大体来说),the best thing is to run, as fast as you can—not always, but in general, Bocci told BBC News. “If you’re really thin, it’s more probable that there will be an optimal speed. Otherwise (否则),it is better to run fast. ”
Now you know what to do next time the rain catches you in the middle of the street. But the best way to stay dry is still to carry an umbrella.

28、In most situations, light helps us see. But nowadays humans are using so much light that it is in fact a kind of pollution.
When it comes to looking at the night sky, too much light makes it d【1】for us to watch some of life’s most wonderful views: stars, planets and even galaxies(星系).
According to scientific research, about 2,500 stars can be seen by the human eye without u【2】any special equipment(设备). But because of light pollution, you can only see 200 to 300 stars from today’s countryside, and no more than ten stars from a city. In most big c【3】, people can’t see the sky filled with stars like they die in their childhood.
Light pollution influences more than just our view of sky. The latest research s【4】that lots of nighttime light can harm wildlife too.
When birds fly to a【5】place over cities, they sometimes get lost by the brightness and fly in circles u【6】they drop from tiredness. Sea turtles need dark beaches for laying eggs, but they can’t find their ideal places because of those bright lights.
Too much light at night m【7】even influence human health, but scientists aren’t sure of that. They are still learning more.
In order to prevent things from going w【8】, governments and some organizations are working to reduce light pollution. Many cities and towns have taken action to reduce the use of lights at night. Lights are used only when and where they are r【9】 needed.
Hopefully, in the near f【10】, humans can enjoy the clear and beautiful sky again and all the wildlife will live a peaceful and undisturbed life too.
