二、阅读理解 (共4题,共 20分)
  • 26、Responsibility is an admirable character that makes life better for everyone around you. 【1】 It’s also about making proper choices and doing what is right. Showing responsibility isn’t always easy, but practicing and making an effort will help you improve over time.

Think of the consequences before speaking or acting. Bad decisions often lead to a lot of new problems. Many times, you can avoid these problems by thinking about what you’re about to do before you go through with it. Irresponsible people often make decisions without realizing how they are affecting others. 【2】

【3】 Take a time out to look back on what you have said or done, especially after a difficult decision. By reflecting, you give yourself a chance to make better decisions. Consider what goes right, what goes wrong, and what you can do differently next time. Use what you learn to become wiser and more responsible.

Tell the truth to be honest with others. If you’re honest, people will believe you are a responsible person. Try to be as honest as possible. Lying leads to deeper holes in the long run, so admit when you do something wrong. 【4】 But it’s something you can handle when you’re a responsible person.

Apologize for any mistake you make. No one is perfect, and no matter how responsible you try to be, you might mess up sometimes. 【5】 If you hurt someone, tell them you are sorry and will do better next time.

A.This can be very tough to do at times.

B.Instead of hiding your mistakes, admit them.

C.Find solutions for problems instead of blaming others.

D.It isn’t only about doing your homework or feeding the dog.

E.Pause and reflect on your actions to see what you can do better.

F.Avoid big lies hurting one’s feelings if you want people to trust you.

G.Most decisions affect other people, so be responsible for your choices.

  • 27、As we all know, sleep is very important and necessary. I would love everyone to form the habits below to have better sleep without needing the alarm wake-up call.

【1】 If you eat much food an hour before you go to bed, your body will hate you. Your body needs time to digest(消化)while you are still awake.

【2】   Something that makes me very angry is when I hear on TV that people just need 30-minute exercise a week. That’s funny. Every person should be getting 30-minute exercise daily along with a healthy diet. When you do exercises, you use energy that your body has to recover from. 【3】   The harder you push your body, the faster it falls to sleep and the better it sleeps.

Turn the TV off. This is very important. There are a few shows I watch still, but they will never get in my way of( 妨碍) sleep. The bedroom is only for sleeping and a place of rest. 【4】

【5】 A question to ask yourself: If I didn’t have an alarm, what time would I get up? If that time is the time you need to get up, you should probably throw away the alarm. If the time you actually get up is much later than the time you do get up, make great changes to your way of life and the time you go to sleep. No one should need an alarm.

A.Exercise for at least 30 minutes every day.

B.Eat right and no meals within 4 hours of rest.

    C.Throw away the alarm.

D.Sleep is one of the most important things in our lives.

E.Your body recovers when you are sleeping.

F.Try to get up as early as you can.

G.Take the TV out of your bedroom.

  • 29、Letting her take the wheel

My daughter, Mia, is 16 and learning to drive. Many parents are freaked out (惊慌失措) about putting their easily distracted teenagers in charge of a fast-moving thing of glass and steel. My wife refused to teach her, leaving the task to me.

I’ve learned a few things. First, Mia didn’t know how to drive at all. She didn’t even know where to put the key. It was like watching a chimpanzee try to solve a puzzle. Worse, she couldn’t remember that D was for drive, and R meant reverse (倒车).

Then came the road rules. Mia likes to sail past stop signs. I had to explain that “STOP means STOP”. Had she actually read the rule book? “Yes,” she said, but she forgot most of it. “It was so boring.”

Although I had been driving her around for her whole life, she hadn’t learned anything.

Despite these things, I’ve also learned that I enjoy teaching her. I think I’m pretty good at it. I am much calmer than I thought I would be.

I also enjoy the one-on-one time we have together. We have some good conversations. So far, we have covered her friends’ hairstyles and how stressed she feels after school. I enjoyed communicating with her.

One Sunday evening, we were driving down a narrow back street, deep in conversation, when I realized that the car was moving quite fast. “SLOW DOWN!” I yelled, yanking (猛拉) the hand brake (手刹). We stopped the car and sat in the dark for a minute. “You can’t go that fast,” I said. “You don’t know enough yet.” I put my hand on her head, “I don’t want anything to happen to you.”

    “Me neither.” she said.

“Okay, cool,” I said. “Let’s go.”

She started the car and we headed back home.

【1】What can we know from the first two paragraphs?

    A.Mia knew much about driving.

B.Mia was a beginner at driving.

C.Mia never followed her parents’ advice.

D.Mia was naturally skillful at driving.

【2】The main reason why the author enjoys Mia teaching is that ________.

A.he gets to know more about her

B.it helps him be calmer in daily life

    C.it is more hands-on teaching

D.he can help plan her future

【3】When Mia drove fast, the author felt ________.

    A.angry and nervous.

    B.impatient and nervous.

    C.disappointed and caring

    D.surprised and concerned

【4】The story that the author taught her daughter driving implies that ________.

A.parents should teach their child driving as early as possible

B.parents must accompany their child to do anything

C.parents should value the time they spend with their kids

D.teenagers should be given enough space to develop
