    What to wear?

The main reason why you’re heading there is to relax on the country’s fresh beaches and enjoy yourself in warm waters of the Caribbean Sea. During most of the day, you’ll likely be wearing your swimsuit. When you’ve finished at the beach or pool area, it is advisable to bring along a shirt or cover as well as shorts to wear.

It is not recommended to wear beach clothes when you go out for dinner—regardless of the time of day. Shorts and T-shirts are enough in many restaurants, though more formal clothes are advised for the fanciest restaurants.

    What not to bring?

While drinking water is questionable or not safe in many Caribbean nations, Aruba is an exception. Aruba is known for having the cleanest water in the world. There water, so simply bring along an empty bottle.

Several items are not allowed in Aruba for carrying. These include firearms, e-cigarettes as well as sharp objects and tools.

【1】Why do tourists choose Aruba for a destination?

A.They can wear casual clothes freely.

  • 28、   A year ago, Jiao Wenchao, 31 and a college teacher suddenly realized that he was having hearing problems. A hospital examination suggested that both his ears were losing the ability to hear high frequency sounds. The doctor told him that the problem was caused by over exposure(暴露)to high frequency and loud noise, including from his earphones.

A recent report by the World Health Organization has warned that some 1.1 billion teenagers and young adults are at risk of hearing loss due to the unsafe use of personal audio devices, including smart phones.

Data from studies in middle-and high-income countries analyzed by WHO indicate that among teenagers and young adults aged between 12 and 35, nearly 50 percent were exposed to unsafe levels of sound from personal audio devices and around 40 percent were exposed to potentially(潜在地) damaging levels of sound at entertainment sites.

According to the study, safe listening depends on the intensity(密度) or loudness of sound, as well as the duration(持续)and frequency of listening. When the exposure is particularly loud, regular or prolonged, it could lead to permanent damage of the ear's sensory cells, it says.

The study results have caught wide attention on the Internet in China. Many internet users admit that compared with more noticeable health problems like eyesight loss, hearing loss has been largely neglected(忽略) as it is usually in the high frequency section, which means that those who suffer it can still carry out daily communication unaffected.

Pan Tao, an otologist from Peking University Third Hospital in Beijing says that timely treatment is critical. "This is because sometimes the hearing loss is temporary and can be cured with therapy, including medicine. However, it can become irreversible(不可逆转的) if the problem is not properly treated within the first two or three months.

"But many people miss the best time to get treated because they do not even realize the existence of the problem."

It says teenagers and young people can better protect their hearing by keeping the volume down on personal audio devices, wearing earplugs when visiting noisy sites, and using carefully fitted, and, if possible, noise-canceling earphones or headphones.

    1What causes hearing loss?

    A.Freguent exposure to loud noise.

B.Listening to music on the phones.

C.Going to noisy places once in a while.

D.Not having your hearing examined regularly.

2What can we conclude from the studies by WHO?

A.Half of the population in rich countries will go deaf.

B.People should not use personal audio devices.

C.Loud noise will cause physical damage to ears.

D.Hearing loss is a potentially serious problem.

3Why don’t people pay attention to hearing loss?

A.It won’t affect communication. B.It can be cured easily.

C.It often escapes notice. D.It is only temporary.

4What is suggested to avoid hearing loss?

    A.Have your hearing examined regularly.

B.Keep yourself to a safe sound volume.

C.Stay away from personal audio devices.

    D.Don’t go to noisy places.

  • 29、   If practicing an attitude of gratitude during the storms of life is too much for you right now, that’s OK. When things are tough, most people have a hard time being thankful. They’re so caught up in what’s wrong in the present moment that they simply can’t see some things are still right.

If that’s true for you, then accept it. You’re going through a particularly difficult or unhappy period of time, and you don’t like it one bit. Very normal, very human. But remember this: there is always something to be grateful for. It maybe only a small comfort right now, but it is a start. Make a list of some of the terrible things that didn’t happen. For example:

    ●You’re in debt...but you’re not homeless.

●You lost your job...but you didn’t lose your health.

●You broke your leg...but you didn’t break your neck.

    ●Your mother has Alzheimer’s disease...but your father doesn’t.

No matter how bad things are, they could always be worse. Start finding gratitude for what might have happened, but didn’t. It does help a lot. Of course, you may not be thankful for everything — but you can always be thankful for something.

1The passage is intended for those who ________.

A.have done a lot for others B.don’t know how to be thankful

C.have something to do in return D.have met with difficulties in life

2The writer thinks it ________ for people to feel unhappy in time of difficulty.

    A.impossible B.necessary

    C.understandable D.helpful

3How many “terrible things that didn’t happen” are listed in this passage?

    A.Two. B.Four.

    C.Three. D.Five.

    4How is the passage organized?

    A.Explanation—Comparison—Topic B.Introduction—Discussion—Conclusion

    C.Comparison—Argument—Explanation D.Argument—Opinion—Discussion
