    阅读下面的短文,根据短文内容完成表格(每空词数不限)。

I have a lot of problems recently(最近). First I’m not happy in class. I’m so shy that I’m afraid of speaking in class. Secondly I argued with my best friend. I’m very worried because I have few friends. I don’t want to lose her. Thirdly I feel nervous as the exams are coming. And even I can’t sleep well at night.

Yesterday my mother took me to the doctor. I told the doctor my problems and he gave me some advice. He asked me to make more friends who look friendly and play games in the free time so that I’m not shy. He also said “if you don’t want to lose your best friend you should talk with her. Tell her what you think and you are the best friends again.” Because I can’t sleep well he asked me to eat some healthy foods for sleep. And he asked me to relax. I’m trying to follow his advice.

  • 22、Emma was very excited. Today was the baseball game! The winners would all get trophies (奖杯). Emma decided to bring home a trophy to put on her shelf. She had never won a trophy before.

She put on her red uniform, picked up her gloves and said to herself, “I hope I get a hit today.”

On the way to field, Emma felt nervous.

“Are you feeling okay, Emma?” her mother asked.

“I really don’t want to strike out,” Emma said.

“Just keep your eye on the ball and don’t feel afraid. You can do it,” Emma’s mother said.

Emma was a great hitter in practice, but she had never hit a ball during a game. She almost always struck out.

When the game started, Emma cheered (喝彩) loudly for her friends. She caught a fly ball to make an out, and everyone cheered for her. Emma struck out when it was her turn to bat, but her team was doing well.

The game was tied (平局) and it was her team’s last chance. Frankie was up first, and he hit the ball hard to get on base. Next up was Henry, but he struck out. Kara hit the ball, but she was out at first base. Frankie was able to run to third. That meant he could score (得分) and win the game if the next teammate got a good hit.

Emma closed her eyes and swung hard for the first time, but missed.

“Keep your eye on the ball, Emma!” her mother called from the stands.

Emma heard it. So this time she kept her eyes wide open as she swung the bat. Crack! Emma hit the ball and ran as fast as she could. She was safe, and Frankie ran home. They won!

“Great game, everyone!” said Emma’s coach later. “Here are your trophies.”

Emma held her shiny trophy high in the air. She couldn’t wait to put the new trophy on her shelf at home.

  • 23、   You must have seen it a lot in Chinese cities: people ride electric scooters(电动滑板车)to work or for fun.

Riding electric scooters could seem cool at first sight. The scooter balances by itself with one or two wheels. Some of them also have a handle(手柄). Riders lean forward to make the scooter go faster. It also can stop if the riders shift their weight backwards.

However, starting from the end of August, people can no longer ride electric scooters on public roads. It is in the interests of traffic safety, according to Beijing's traffic authorities. There will be a 10 yuan fine for those who ride scooters on the road. This was followed by Shanghai's decision to get scooters off the road last month.

"The one-wheeled scooters can go as fast as 30km an hour and they don't have brakes(刹车)" a traffic policeman told Beijing Youth Daily. "The two-wheeled scooters can even go as fast as cars at 60 km an hour. But their brakes cannot compete with those of a car. Scooters are likely to run into cars or buses or hurt people on roads."

But this doesn't mean that scooters are only dangerous on public roads. People who ride them indoors or in their living places should also be careful, according to the Beijing Consumer Association.

There are still no national safety standards for electric scooters and some of them are very dangerous.

The association tested more than 20 electric scooters from different companies and found that most had safety problems.19 scooters couldn't come to a full stop in less than 4 meters. This could be very dangerous.

1How can riders stop the scooters while driving them?

A.They use the handle to stop. B.They put more weight forward.

C.They lean backwards. D.They use brakes to stop.

2What does the underlined word "those" refer to?

    A.Wheels. B.Brakes. C.Scooters. D.Riders.

3Which of the following is TRUE about scooters?

A.There can be either one wheel or two on scooters.

B.The one-wheeled scooters can even go faster than cars.

C.The two-wheeled scooters have the same brakes as cars.

D.Scooters are not dangerous if people use them indoors.

4What's the result of the association's test?

A.Scooter companies wouldn’t follow the national safety standards.

B.Most companies that make scooters have safety problems.

C.Scooters can't come to a complete stop by themselves.

D.About 95 percent of scooters have the problem of stopping.
