22、A librarian in Indonesia’s Java island started a project — lending books to children in exchange for trash they collect in a novel way — to clean up the planet and help improve kids’ literacy (识字能力).
Each weekday Raden Roro Hendarti rides her three wheeler with books piled up at the back for children in Muntang village to exchange for plastic cups, bags and other waste that she carries back. She told Reuters she is helping kids get into the habit of reading as well as making them aware of the environment. As soon as she shows up, little children, many accompanied by their mothers, surround her “Trash Library” and choose the books noisily. They are all carrying trash bags and Raden's three wheeler quickly fills up with them as the books fly out.
She’s happy the kids are going to spend less time on online games as a result. “Let us build a culture of literacy from young age to mitigate the harm of the online world,” Raden said. “We should also take care of our waste in order to fight climate change and to save the earth from trash,” Raden said.
She collects about 100 kg of waste each week, which is then sorted out by her colleagues and sent for recycling or sold. She has a stock of 6,000 books to lend and wants to take the mobile service to neighbouring areas as well. Kevin Alamsyah, an 11-year-old reader, searches for waste lying in the village. “When there is too much trash, our environment will become dirty and it’s not healthy. That’s why I look for trash to borrow a book,” he says.
The literacy rate for above-15-year-olds in Indonesia is around 96 percent, but a September report by the World Bank warned that the Covid-19 will leave more than 80% of 15-year-olds below the lowest reading level recognized by the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development.
【1】Why did the librarian start the activity?
A.To make kids spend less time on online games.
B.To bring in a new way of lending books to children.
C.To get kids interested in reading books and collecting trash.
D.To encourage kids to protect the environment and read more.
【2】Which of the following best explains the underlined word “mitigate” in paragraph 3?
A.Reduce.
B.Add.
C.Remove.
D.Strengthen.
【3】What can be inferred from the text?
A.Few kids are attracted to the online games after the project.
B.Kevin Alamsyah finds it challenging to protect the environment.
C.There is a long way to go to increase the literacy rate in Indonesia.
D.The mobile service has already been taken to the neighboring areas.
【4】Which section of a magazine might the text be taken from?
A.Business.

23、Everyone is born with the ability to learn. There are normally two types of learning in our daily life and study — active learning and passive (被动的) learning. 【1】 This will help you develop a habit of active learning gradually.
【2】 I bet that no one sits down to read with the purpose of not getting the contents. But I’m sure that some of you have been in a situation, probably more than once, where you read an assignment, closed the book and thought “what the word was about”. 【3】 Active readers, on the other hand, set goals and check their understanding as they read. When they finish, they can explain the main points and know that they’ve seen what they have read.
Active learners think about information deeply and critically. Being thoughtful is an important part of active learning, because it means that you are analyzing and absorbing the information. 【4】 For instance, you may make connections between the new information and what you already know, identify concepts that you may not understand very well, or evaluate the importance of what you are reading. An active learner considers constantly in this way. In contrast, passive learners may read the text and listen to lectures and even understand most of what is read and heard. 【5】
All in all, behavior of an active learner and a passive one varies greatly. Equipping yourself with study strategies (策略) of active learners may eventually help you become one of them
A.Passive learners won’t be strict with themselves.
B.You need to know some differences between them.
C.In other words, you are processing what you read.
D.However, that important step of reflecting on it is not taken.
E.Active learners accept much of the responsibility for learning.
F.When interacting with the text in this way, you are doing passively.
G.Active learners study with the purpose of grasping and memorizing information.
24、Born in the State of New York on May 14th, 1984, Mark Zuckerberg was an instant success. In his high school years, he was considered one of top students in the classics, before moving into the arts, sciences, and literature, again picking up high marks and receiving academic praise. It earned him admission to Harvard University.
As a rebellious yet relatively quiet student, he created a website called Facemash in the university– an instantly controversial website that encouraged students to rate each other based on appearance.
The site was controversial for several reasons. The first was its illegal use of photographs, which the university and students took issue with. The second was its controversial nature – not every student like being ranked based on their appearance. The third was its huge resource use – while it was hosted on Harvard servers, it was the most popular page in the university’s entire network.
Zuckerberg was soon forced to shut the site down, but its popularity and controversy had made him consider its future potential. He soon turned the simple site into a personal one for Harvard students, encouraging them to network with their peers at the college. It was then, together with his two friends, that they launched “The Facebook”, which immediately spread to other colleges and grew into a public service that anyone could access in the United States, whether to network with friends and family, or to play games.
The company has been criticized frequently, nevertheless, Zuckerberg has remained true to his initial vision – to create a website that the entire world can use to communicate openly and easily with one another and to keep the user experience clean and pure. The end result is one of the world’s biggest online businesses.
Although its true value is debatable, it’s safe to say that Facebook, and its creator Mark Zuckerberg, are two of the twenty-first century’s most influential, controversial, and potentially powerful figures.
