二、阅读理解 (共4题,共 20分)
  • 26、Download an app, open it, place your order, and wait for your food to be delivered to your home – this is a picture of how many people eat in China these days. According to the latest data from the China Internet Network Information Center, 421 million Chinese people use online food delivery services. That’s equal to half of the total number of internet users in China.

Which group of people is ordering food online the most? Unsurprisingly, it’s mainly young people. A recent report that was jointly published by the China Hospitality Association and Meituan, a food delivery service, showed that 86.3 percent of the service’s users are between 20 and 34 years old. These people, who are more likely to live in small families, are the major force driving the development of the food delivery industry.

Small families depend greatly on food delivery services. According to the National Bureau of Statistics, Chinese families have changed in size over the past decade. In 2002, only 7.7 percent of families were single-person households. But this number increased to 15.6 percent in 2017. The percentage of two-person families rose from 18.4 in 2002 to 27.2 in 2017. For small families, relatively, if people spend more time and resources in cooking, it’s a waste, so ordering food online has become more popular, which is so convenient.

The improvement of China’s food delivery services has also attracted more customers. According to Meituan’s report, the average time it takes to make a food delivery dropped from 38 minutes in 2016 to 29 minutes in 2019. Many delivery platforms are also offering more services, delivering products such as toys, fruits, vegetables, medicine and flowers, even furniture and electrical equipment and so on. As its services continue to improve, it’s more likely that the food delivery industry will keep growing.

【1】Which one is likely to use food delivery services the most in China?

    A.An old man.

    B.A single in his 20s.

    C.A high school student.

    A.Small families prefer food delivery.

B.Delivery services have improved a lot.

C.Small households are more than big ones.

D.Chinese people like ordering food after marriage.

【3】What is the best title of the passage?

    A.The Changes of Small Families.

    B.The Improvement of Living Standards.

C.The Advantages of Food Delivery Platform.

D.The Development of Food Delivery Industry.

【4】Where is this passage probably taken from?

    A.Newspaper.

    B.Novel.

    C.Tour guide.

  • 27、When I was an eight-year-old girl, Mother told me to put my coat on because we were going to go somewhere special. Usually, that meant we were going to see someone important or that I would at least get a new toy. I asked which one it would be that day, and she told me that I would be getting something better than a toy. She said I would get “access to a world of toys”.

But we did not end up at any toy store. Nor did we finally see anyone we knew. Instead, Mother pulled her car at Marcy Public Library. Mother led me directly to the reception desk. “I’d like to get my daughter a library card,” she told the man behind the desk. He asked her to fill out a form and smiled at me. “What kind of books do you like?” he asked. I was too shy to reply then. I simply smiled back and shrugged my shoulders. “Well, you’ll figure it out in time” he said.

I do not remember what I checked out that first day, but I know that in the years that followed I read everything I could find of interest at that old library. I read through all the Nancy Drew books before advancing to Judy Blume, then the classics: Charles Dickens, Mark Twain, Shakespeare. Then I read books on history, books of poetry, and books about art. The library opened up a world that I never knew existed.

So Mother was right. Getting a library card was like getting access to a world of toys.

【1】Why did the author’s mother ask her to put on the coat?

    A.To eat delicious food.

    B.To go to someplace special.

    C.To swim.

    D.To meet important people.

【2】Where did the author’s mother park her car?

    A.at Marcy Public Library.

    B.at any toy store.

    C.at that old library.

    D.Judy Blume.

【3】Which is right according to the passage?

A.The author is outgoing and active.

B.The author is shy when asked.

C.The author only read books on history.

D.Her mother was unwilling to let her read.

【4】What’s the title of the passage?

    A.Getting a library card.

    B.Making a lot of money.

    C.Getting a car.

    D.Getting a good book.

  • 28、   While staring out of the window during a flight, not everyone will think carefully about the question why airplanes have rounded windows rather than square ones .

Over the years, aerospace engineering has made huge steps in airplane technology, meaning planes can carry more passengers and go faster. The planes have also changed shape to increase safety—including the windows. As commercial air travel took off in the mid -20th century, airline companies began to fly at higher altitudes to lower their cost—the air density (密度) is lower up there, creating less drag (阻力) for airplanes. However, higher altitudes came with problems, like the fact human beings can’t really survive at 30,000 feet. To make that possible, the cabin was changed to a cylindrical (圆柱体) shape to support the pressure inside. But at first, plane builders left in the standard square windows and this expansion meant disaster. The de Havilland Comet came into fashion in the 1950s. With a closed cabin, it was able to go higher and faster than other aircraft .

However, where there’s a comer, there’s a weak spot. Windows, having four comers, have four potential weak spots, making them likely to crash under stress— such as air pressure. By curving the window, the stress that would eventually break the window comer is distributed and the chance of it breaking is reduced. Rounded shapes are also stronger and resist deformation  (变形), and can thus survive the extreme differences in pressure between the inside and outside of the aircraft .

Fortunately, designers figured out the lack of design pretty quick . Now we have nice, rounded airplane windows that can resist the pressure of traveling altitude. It gives being able to gaze out of your window to the world from 35,000 feet a whole new outlook, doesn’t it?

1Why did airlines aim to fly at higher altitudes?

A.To save money for less drag.

B.To help the plane to take off.

C.To increase safety of the plane .

D.To carry more passengers and go faster.

2What does the underlined words “de Havilland Comet” in Paragraph 2 refer to?

    A.An aircraft. B.A band.

    C.A planet D.A design.

3Which is the advantage of the rounded window?

    A.It increases the air pressure.

B.It weakens the strength of air pressure.

C.It reduces the possibility of breaking up.

D.It helps to survive the extreme weather.

  • 29、The full moon climbs over the eastern horizon (地平线) and hangs like a huge orange globe in the sky. A few hours later, the moon is overhead but seems to have changed. The huge orange globe has become a small silver disk. What has happened? Why has the orange color disappeared? Why does the moon seem so much smaller and farther away now that it is overhead?

The moon appears orange on the horizon because we view it through the dust of the atmosphere. The overhead moon does not really shrink as it moves away from the horizon. Our eyes inform us that the overhead moon is farther away. But in this position the moon is actually closer to our eyes than when it is near the horizon.

The change in size is a trick our eyes and minds play on us. When the moon is low in the sky, we can compare its size with familiar objects. It is easy to see that the moon is much larger than trees or buildings, for example. When the moon is high in the sky, however, it is hard to compare it with objects on earth. Compared to the vastness of the sky, the moon seems small.

There is another reason why the moon seems to shrink. We are used to staring at objects straight ahead of us. When an object is difficult to see, our eyes have to try to focus on it. When we move our heads back to look up, we will try hard again. Looking at something from an unaccustomed position can fool you into believing an object is smaller or farther away than it is. However, scientists do not yet understand completely why the moon seems to shrink as it rises in the sky.

1What makes us puzzled when the moon is high in the sky?

    A. It becomes large.   B. It looks different.

    C. Its color disappears.   D. Its shape changes.

2What really happens when the moon floats farther away from the horizon?

    A. It comes nearer.   B. It turns orange.

    C. It goes farther.   D. It gets through dust.

3What does the author intend to suggest by mentioning trees and buildings in Para. 3?

    A. They can affect our judgment.   B. They are low on earth.

    C. They can attract our attention.   D. They are large objects.

4What can we infer from the text?

    A. The size of the moon often changes.

    B. The moon is in fact a huge orange globe.

    C. The moon is beginning to shrink much.

    D. We do not see the moon as it really is.

四、短文填空 (共1题,共 5分)
  • 31、DirectionsRead the following passage and fill in the blanks to complete the summary. No more than eight words for each blank.

The school that is changing American education

Two years ago, I visited a school in Brooklyn called P-TECH, the Pathways in Technology early college high school, which seemed very much like the future of education to me. It knitted together educators and job creators, giving kids not only a high school degree, but a two-year associate degree and a job guarantee at one of the country’s top blue-chip firms, IBM.

The latest great national leap forward in secondary education was during the post W.W. period, when state governments decided that high school education, previously optional, should be compulsory in order to ensure the kind of skilled workforce needed to compete in a new, higher tech industrial era. Now, many leaders---including the President, the education Secretary, scores of blue-chip CEOs and executives, and most top educators---believe we’re once again at such a turning point. When it comes to high school, an increasing number of them buy into the idea that not only should educators and job creators b e much more closely connected, but that as Stanley Litow, the IBM executive behind the program puts it,“six should be the new four.”The push for all American kids to have a post high school future, like Tennessee governor Haslam’s recent calls for two years of free community college for every student in the state, seems to come almost daily.

The statistics support it. A Four-year high school degree these days only guarantees a $15 an hour future. According to projections by the Center on Education and the Workforce at Georgetown University, the U.S. economy will create some 47-million job openings in the decade ending 2018, but nearly two-thirds will require some post secondary education. The Center projects that only 36% of American jobs will be filled by people with only a 4-year high school degree---half of what that number was in the 1970s. What’s more, the cost of not trading up educationally could be disastrous---workers with an associate degree will earn 73% more than those with only a high school diploma.

Many leaders maintain that children should 1 and that high schools should 2. The idea is based on 3. On one hand, more jobs will require 4. On the other, an associate degree will ensure 5.
